There are a few requirements you should be aware of:
- Your stay in Denmark should be longer than three months.
- You should have a residence or permanent address.
- If you are a national of an EU Member State, you should have a registration certificate.
- If you are a national of a country outside the EU, you should have a residency permit.
You have to order time for (entry) in Borgerservice. Call Borgerservice on telephone 49 28 20 04.
Danish nationals
When you come to Borgerservice you have to bring along:
- Passport.
- Rental agreement or written statement from your landlord or similar.
- If you have arrived from another Nordic country, you should also take documentation of your civil registration number from the country you have come from.
Foreign nationals
If you are a foreign national, you will have to go in person to the municipal service centre:
Borgerservice, Birkedalsvej 27, 3000 Helsingør.
When you come to Borgerservice you have to bring along:
Nordic nationals
- Passport

EU nationals
- Passport or ID with a picture

- Employment contract

Nationals of a country outside the EU
- Passport
- Residency permit from the Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen) or the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment (Styrelsen for Fastholdelse og Rekruttering).
- Rental agreement or written statement from your landlord
- If you have arrived from another Nordic country, you should also take documentation of your civil registration number from the country you have come from.
Resident maximum
There is a resident maximum in Helsingør Municipality. This means that a maximum of two people per room can live in a dwelling. For example, if you have a two-room apartment, a maximum of four people can live at the address.
